Lyme disease and chickens……prevention…THANK YOU PEEPS!

Did you know one of the favorite snacks for chickens is ticks? Ticks cause Lyme disease. Chickens snack eagerly on ticks, which would PREVENT Lyme disease. Not ticks….no Lyme disease….any questions?

Next….mosquitos….we are quickly approaching mosquito season in this area. Who is tired of the “mosquito man” spraying that awful chemical in the streets with our children playing in the yard? Our tax dollars pay for this. I am of relatively sound mind, (I like to think so anyway’s), and think a much better “treatment” and “elimination” tactic for mosquito control is….wait for it……BACKYARD HENS!!!!

Who gardens? I do! I do! I love to grow fresh vegetables all season long. I detest those disgusting slimy tomato, cucumber, and squash marring SLUGS. I refuse to use chemicals in my garden for fertilizer OR bug/pest control. I use…..wait for it…….BACKYARD HENS!!!! My hens LOVE to eat slugs (my stomach tends to flip and roll when I witness this)….but they eat them and it stops the destruction of my beautiful vegetables!

Aside from the FACT that hens eat bugs, all kinds….they would provide a public service of mosquito control WITHOUT the chemicals being sprayed in our neighborhoods. AND they eat ticks….which would prevent HOW MANY cases of Lyme disease?

Check out these websites….

Chickens are Lyme disease preventers. How cool is that?

Is there a negative about backyard hens that is real yet????
