Treading Water…..feels like it anyway’s…

I contacted Congressman Ridgell’s office back in February. They finally got back to me. They tell me my “case” isn’t federal, it’s local. I already knew that. I said I needed to get my “issue” on the agenda and no one seems to know how to make that happen. I am speaking to a lady named Kathleen in Ridgell’s office by the way…. She said she would do some investigating and get back to me. Okay. She did, very quickly, in fact. She said I could speak in front of council at open mike the second Tuesday….Oh…wow….that’s a GREAT idea…..(I have been since January!) I am sorry….was that dripping with sarcasm? They are giving her the run around too. She is looking into this further.

The thing is with speaking at open mike (I still feel like it’s the comedy show at Funny Bone comedy club!!!) is the council members will not comment. I guess it is their policy to not comment without first getting the advice of the city attorney. Next. What step is next? What do I do next? It’s been in the paper, on the radio, on the news…..what is next? The city council is not returning calls or emails. I feel like I am treading water (or compost since I am all about composting)…

Meanwhile, back in the designated chicken area of my yard(as my hilarious teenager refers to the chicken yard), the girls are happily laying the most unusually colored eggs, scratching in the wheat straw and hay, hanging out on the perches and branches, eating whatever they can find in addition to their food, catching flies, digging holes and taking dirt baths….basically doing all the fun things chickens do. One of my clients and friend’s was over yesterday getting her hair done and we went and sat with the girls. She laughed her hiney off watching them. There is a couple bushes and plants in the pen that still grow leaves. The girls will sometimes stand under the leaves, gauging how high up they are, and jump straight up to snatch a leaf or two. It might not sound like much…but it is funny as all heck to watch them. Somebody will scratch up a worm and the chicken football game is on…running all over chasing after the one with the delicious tidbit…..ewww!

Back to the water treading(or compost) thing…..any ideas on how to get on the agenda? I need to know who stands where on the backyard chicken issue. That way we know who to vote out when the time comes and who to vote in. Makes sense to me. I would love to hear back …..

I listened to the Chicken Whisperer radio talk show today, again. I enjoy the heck out of the show. The guest speaker today was a gardener. I learned some things I didn’t know, that, in my opinion, is ALWAYS a good thing. I also participated in the online live chat. I laughed a good amount of the time. Those folks are good, down to earth people, I don’t mind mentioning! I tuned in on my computer a little early, because I want to make sure I hear as much of the show as possible. Apparently they are now doing an “early bird” code word for the contest of the day. GUESS WHAT…….I WON!! Woo hoo! I won a new chicken feeder. I am suppastoked about that because I managed to break one of my big feeders and needed to get a new one. I won one. I think it is fascinating how the universe supplies for us.
